Among the things enjoyed most were: the colors and calm of the sunrise atop Cadillac Mountain, the power of the surf on the rocks, and the people we traveled with. The Bar Harbor Inn was great. Frances Siemens - Newton, KS 3/3/2008 Your recent note about the 4th of July in Alaska reminded of our trip about 12 years ago to Alaska. I think it was called Highway cruises. We picked up an RV in Seattle and drove up the Al-Kan highway to Alaska. Each night our camp place had been reserved for us. It so happened that we were in one of those camp grounds on the 4th of July. I vividly remember the residents of all the RV's sitting in their lawn chairs while someone was shooting off the fireworks in broad day light even though it was 11 at night! Certainly fireworks lose some of their spectacular quality when the light is still so bright. |
Norma Hannaford - Marion, KS 2/25/2008 Twenty years ago I would have taken your African trip - I am now 103 years old and a stay at home. I love to travel - and had two friends that did too. Cleo Loomis and Margaret Wingerd. I'll bet you remember them. They went on every trip you offered. What gals! I enjoy the publicity articles you send and try to imagine going. I remember Cleo having enjoyed her trip to Africa - said she stayed in the most wonderful hotel - the best ever. Wish I could go. |
